The Southland Arts Festival is held annually in late April and May and introduces new and dynamic arts to the Southland region.

The Southland Arts Festival has been showcasing the best of local and New Zealand performing arts to Southland audiences since 2009.

The festival caters for all with many opportunities to experience different genres including music, theatre, dance, literary events, and comedy. While most events are held in Invercargill, some shows tour to the wider Southland region, with the festival comprising of ticketed events as well as free and donation-based events.

Venture Southland’s management of the festival involves scheduling, programming and marketing the festival, managing various productions, liaising with partner organisations for their inclusion in the festival and facilitating the production of 10,000 brochures which are distributed all over Southland and beyond.

The festival events are listed on the SouthlandNZ website and regular updates on the festival and other arts happen year-round on the Southland Arts Festival Facebook page.
