Shakespeare in the Park is a popular event, held in February each year, presenting Shakespearean performances as either full plays or “promenade” style shows that feature a smorgasbord of scenes.

The Shakespeare in the Park Charitable Trust is the governing body of the event however it has been managed by Venture Southland since the event’s inception in 2001. Local performers take part in the shows, although sometimes industry professionals are engaged to either perform or direct with performances held in one of Southland’s beautiful parks or gardens.
