Carbon Neutral Advantage is an exciting three-year project aimed at reducing carbon emissions in Southland.

The project is being coordinated by Venture Southland and involves Southland businesses, councils, and the wider community coming together to establish a pathway for New Zealand to meet its greenhouse gas emission targets through the implementation of carbon reduction initiatives.

Objectives of the project

  • Developing a regional smart Zero Carbon Framework
  • Creating an accurate local carbon measurement tool, measuring carbon avoidance of past regional projects to encourage wider adoption of technologies
  • Identifying targets and goals to transitiion to a low emission environment
  • Scoping a local carbon trading platform
  • Building a framework and business case for a funding support scheme for local projects to continue building a cleaner and more efficient Southland
  • Monitoring and reporting of goals, targets and the project
