Spring Festival entertainment is set to heat up as we head into the school holidays with bands, DJs, curling and skating demonstrations plus refreshments from food trucks and a bar.
This evening Ice Sports Southland are providing an ice skating demonstration, the Edge Radio Station is onsite with a DJ Booth, spin to win, Edge Pong and the skating rink and giant snow globe are open until 10pm Friday and Saturday.
Venture Southland Major Event Coordinator Claire Blau says the Spring Festival maybe a third of the way through but there’s no way it’s a third of the way through the fun and entertainment.
“There’s two weeks of good food, music and demonstrations. Ice Sports Southland will be curling on the pop-up Ice Rink on Sat 7th Oct at 5.30pm making the pop-up Ice Rink the southernmost curling venue in the World! Skaters will also have a chance to try their hand at the ancient ice sport.”
“There’s live music from top Southland talents Saelyn & Steve and D & M Duo during the final weekend of the festival plus DJs from the Edge and More FM entertaining this weekend.”
Ice World New Zealand Managing Director Wayne Lawrence says he’s looking forward to the coming weekend and the school holidays as the festival really ramps up.
“It’s been a great first week, we’ve had school groups and community groups ranging in size from 4 to 60 through along with a steady stream of skaters of all ages taking advantage of having a rink in the city.”
There’s so much going on that you don’t have to skate to be entertained, just show up for the music and excellent demonstrations from Ice Sports Southland.”
Invercargill Spring Festival hours are: Sun – Thurs 9am-9pm and 9am – 10pm Fri and Saturday. The last day of the Festival is Sunday 15 October.
