Increasing southern tourism product knowledge through a speed dating approach is behind the inaugural Southern Attractions Day in the city this Thursday.
Around 70 of Southland’s accommodation providers, i-SITE and information centre staff along with members of the education sector, will receive four minute tourism product presentations from 20 of the regions tourism operators.
Venture Southland Tourism and Events Manager Warrick Low says the aim of the day is to increase tourism product knowledge across frontline management of our tourism providers.
“Accommodation providers will leave with increased knowledge of the diverse tourism related activities their guests can undertake while in the region. Increased ability to sell activities and attractions will provide guests with reasons to extend their stay in the accommodation or prompt another visit in the future.”
“Operators will obtain more business from referrals by accommodation providers and Visitor Centre staff and the chance to form all important networking relationship with these providers. It’s also an ideal forum for operators to network and gain a better understanding of other products on offer.”
“There have been new operators entering the sector as well as changes to products being offered by more established tourism enterprises, this is a timely product update ahead of what is expected to be a busy tourist season.”
Southern Attractions Day will be held at Bill Richardson Transport world across two sessions this Thursday 12 October, media are most welcome.
